Do you ever feel off-balance and extreme tiredness that doesn’t go even after you have rested? There can be many other similar symptoms like lightheadedness, spinning sensations of vertigo and feeling generally unsteady. If you are feeling all this or more, without any overtly discerning reason, it is probable that you are suffering from dizziness and fatigue.

A normal person experiences dizziness as a feeling of spinning and being off-balance. While a doctor may use more technical terms like vertigo and disequilibrium, what they are referring to is similar spinning sensations and feeling unsteady. In addition to that, feeling faint and woozy are also common symptoms of dizziness.

A severe mental and physical tiredness that you feel even after adequate rest and sleep is called fatigue. This is a persistent feeling that is very different from feeling either slothful or justifiably tired after a rough day. Here, the feeling of being drained of energy continues for longer than it should.

Reasons for Dizziness and Fatigue

The causes of dizziness and fatigue can be many depending upon their severity and duration. Some of the temporary symptoms are caused by specific illnesses, coming and going with the disease. Sometimes the dizziness symptoms have other underlying causes which will make them persistent or recurring. To understand your symptoms in-depth, take a look at the reasons and their remedies mentioned below:

1.Blood Sugar Decline

Your body runs on energy every day that is derived from the food that you eat. Breaking down your nourishment, it is actually the blood sugar or glucose in your blood that generates energy. So when your body does not get enough sugar in it, you can easily feel tired, shaky and even dizzy!

People who have diabetes also suffer from dizziness and fatigue because of insulin and other drugs that lower blood sugar. Managing your dosage correctly is important so that you don’t experience any dizziness symptoms. Conversely to the medical side-effects of having diabetes, hypoglycemia naturally lowers your blood sugar levels and causes weakness.

Symptoms and Treatment

Along with the previously mentioned symptoms, low blood sugar also causes fast heartbeat, sweating & shaking, hunger and irritability. The easy dizziness treatment in such conditions is to consume simple sugars in the form of fruit juices, candy, and any other fast-acting carbohydrates.

2. Lower Blood Pressure

The pressure that flowing blood exerts against the blood vessels as it circulates in your body is called blood pressure (BP). There are certain brackets that define what normal blood pressure is, and when it drops below these limits, it can cause you to feel faint, dizzy and lightheaded. In most cases, the likely causes for low blood pressure involve heart conditions, serious injuries, vitamin deficiencies or even severe dehydration.

Symptoms and Treatment

Other dizziness symptoms include feelings of nausea, increased thirst, shallow breathing, blurred vision and sometimes, inability to properly focus on anything.

The right treatment here doesn’t necessarily involve medicine for dizziness, you have to normalize the BP first. You should eat more salt in your diet, keep hydrated at all times and try wearing support stockings as well.

3. Dehydration

The simple phenomenon of your body lacking in fluids is called dehydration and the most common cause for it is not drinking enough water. It becomes especially severe when you are outdoors in hot weather and don’t have anything to drink for long periods of time. It is so common that it comes high on the list of reasons for dizziness.

Symptoms and Treatment

Dizziness caused by dehydration is also often accompanied by fatigue, very little urine and feelings of confusion. The best dizziness treatment, in this case, is drinking lots of water, electrolytes or lemonade. Eating fresh fruits with a lot of water content also helps.

4. Anaemia or Low Haemoglobin

The red blood cells (RBC) in your body are responsible for carrying oxygen to all the various parts of your body. When you are lacking in RBCs or the present RBCs don’t function very well, you have a condition called anaemia. The malfunction in the work of RBCs can also be caused by low hemoglobin levels. In any such cases, lack of oxygen supply causes tiredness and dizziness.

Symptoms and Treatment

Other symptoms can also involve weakness, breathing difficulties, headaches, cold hands, pale skin and even chest pains. Since the symptoms can be intense, you can expect the causes to be intense as well. Nutrient deficiencies, excessive bleeding, and bone marrow failures can be the possible reasons for anaemia. You might require medicine for dizziness and to cure you of anaemia.

5. Migraines

Intense headaches accompanied by throbbing sensations that can last from a few hours up to a few days are called migraines. Since it affects your head so much, dizziness and vertigo are to be expected.

Symptoms and Treatment

However, other symptoms can be nausea, increased sensitivity to lights and sounds, seeing flashing lights and lightheadedness.

The dizziness treatment for migraine patients involves cutting off potential triggers like alcohol, caffeine and dairy foods. Along with following this line of treatment, medicines for dizziness caused by migraines can also be taken. Consult with your doctor to take anti-seizure drugs along with other options to stop migraines.

6. Abnormal Rhythm of Heartbeat

The normal rhythm of your heart sounds like “lub-dub” being repeated over and over again. When you suffer from arrhythmia, this beat is not normal anymore and either too fast or too slow.

Symptoms and Treatment

This uneven beating can also cause shortness of breath, chest pain and fainting along with the standard fatigue and dizziness.

Medicine for dizziness prescribed by the doctor in such cases might contain blood thinners or blood pressure drugs. They may also ask you to avoid consumption of alcohol, caffeine and cold medicines that are known to make the heartbeat to an uneven rhythm.

7. Vestibular Neuronitis

It is a known fact that your balance and sense of direction depends a lot upon your ears. So when the vestibular nerve inside your ears gets irritated by a cold, flu or infection, your balance is bound to suffer.

Symptoms and Treatment

Swelling in this nerve area causes dizziness and vertigo, sometimes leading to fatigue as well. Nausea, vomiting, confusion and blurred vision are also side-effects of this.

The dizziness treatment, in this case, is letting it be because the vestibular Neuronitis will subside with antibiotics but these symptoms will go on their own in a few day’s time.

Other than the causes and cures listed above, there are other reasons for dizziness like side-effects of certain medications and some people having chronic fatigue syndromes. Try to differentiate and identify signs of dizziness and fatigue outside of simple tiredness. There are many doctors and tests available to you to assuage your worries as well. The earlier you find them, the earlier you can seek help to improve your health!
